Our east london based client is looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to work in its environmental department.
To assist in the provision a professional, comprehensive health and safety advisory and support service for the Council in order to achieve a continued improvement in health and safety performance and service delivery.
To facilitate the implementation of the Council’s health and safety management system and ensure compliance with statutory requirements for health, safety and welfare.
Major Duties (including Responsibilities and Accountabilities)
Health & Safety Advisor grade PO1
Maintain up to date knowledge of current and proposed legislation, both criminal and civil, relating to health and safety issues, in order to interpret, evaluate and advise management on the implications of such legislation on service delivery.
Promote and assist managers in determining safe working practices through risk assessment and effective management systems.
Undertake site visits, inspections of any Council workplace, operation or activity.
To carry out research for health and safety projects.
To study trends from accident information and target areas for guidance.
Assist managers to identify training needs to ensure health and safety competence. Have input into the development of training programmes, evaluate training provided. Assist in the delivery of training as required.
